Norway: Home to Exceptional Milk

Renowned for its pristine nature and lush pastures, Norway boasts some of the world's finest milk. Our careful farming practices, cow breeds, and stringent regulations regarding animal health ensure unparalleled milk quality. By cherishing this invaluable resource, we can craft truly exceptional cheese.

Siri felt Oslo deserved a dedicated artisan cheese makery which showcases the incredible quality of Norwegian milk. Winther Aker Brygge opened its doors in 2019.

Passion and Persistence: The Key Ingredients

Siri's unwavering passion lies in sharing her love for food and the joy it brings. She believes that sharing a meal is the epitome of human connection, fostering the most meaningful conversations. Being able to weave stories behind each dish fills her with pride and happiness.

A Rewarding Endeavour

Siri finds immense gratification in serving guests, particularly those who exude genuine interest and excitement. The opportunity to share her knowledge and ignite enthusiasm for Norwegian cheese fills her with energy. Witnessing a 24-year-old guest bowing in appreciation after savouring her creations sends chills down her spine—a testament to the joy food can spread.

Furthermore, Siri is determined to instill in children a deep respect for the products they consume, teaching them that nothing comes without hard work. She firmly believes that the best things in life are the result of relentless dedication and effort.

Cheesy Up Norway Experiences

Up Norway guests are invited to Winther for Norwegian cheese & Artisan cider tasting as well as a mini-course in mozzarella cheese making. The milk used is from one of our favourite farms, Grøndalen Gård, where private farm visits can also be arranged.

Say Cheese!

Embark on cultural and culinary experiences

Thanks to the Scandinavian food revolution of the last few years, traditional dishes and their ingredients are back, looking cooler and tasting fresher than ever. Did you know that Norway has 20 restaurants with a total of 23 stars in the Michelin guide? Or that Norwegians drink the most coffee in the world (after the Finns)?

Our food heritage is a part of our cultural identity and a valuable factor in empowering and enabling participation in Norwegian society. Eating and drinking your way through Norway is the perfect Foodie-adventure.
