A Well-Earned View.
On Two Wheels.
A hosted cycling journey through Norway’s UNESCO World Heritage-protected fjord landscape:
22-28 May 2027
Duration:
7 days
Date:
22-28 May 2027
Best suited for
Someone who's comfortable with multi-day cycling and climbing serious inclines. You love stunning scenery and great local food.
Most people see the Geirangerfjord from the deck of a cruise ship. You, on the other hand, will earn the view of fjords and mountains from two wheels.
This is a seven-day premium cycling journey, guided by local experts Uteguiden, and designed to test your legs on some of Norway's most dramatic asphalt: the jagged peaks of the Sunnmøre Alps, the iconic switchbacks of the Geiranger-Trollstigen National Scenic Route, and the Norangsdalen valley, which is one of the narrowest valleys in the world. Conceived by two of Up Norway's own cycling obsessives: Torunn, our founder, and Danny, our travel curator who logs 10,000 km a year in the saddle.
Five stages. Hors Catégorie scenery. Premium fjord-view race-bases. Full team-car support on your wheel. These are the roads most riders only ever see on a screen.
Impact statement
This itinerary replaces traditional carbon-heavy sightseeing with human-powered exploration, utilizing boutique Fara bicycles to traverse the Sunnmøre Alps and the Geirangerfjord region, aligning with UN SDG 13: Climate Action. You'll stay in locally rooted accommodations, alongside hyper-local farm-to-table culinary producers, directly contributing to SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
Who this is for
You’re no stranger to a long day on the bicycle. You know how to pace yourself on sustained gradients, and you secretly love the challenge of a long climb. You appreciate that the best views are the ones achieved with elevation gain.
But you also value the après-vélo. You appreciate a flawlessly executed logistical plan, exceptional local gastronomy, and a premium boutique hotel waiting at the end of the stage. This is pro-level support meets Nordic luxury.
Details
The bikes
We ride Fara; a Norwegian boutique brand, founded in Oslo in 2015 by former professional cyclist Jeff Webb. Precision-built, beautifully designed, and the right machine for these roads. Equipped with Di2 electric gearing and light enough to tackle the mountains that define the region.
You're welcome to bring your own bike. We'd recommend bringing your own pedals and helmet in any case, and a full packing list is sent when you confirm your booking.
The support
A dedicated team vehicle follows the peloton on every stage, carrying luggage, spare wheels, and everything you might need mid-ride. The support crew knows these roads intimately. Meanwhile, your host manages the off-bike logistics: premium hotel transfers, curated dinners, and post-ride recovery. Off the bike, expect insights into Nordic wellness, targeted recovery sessions, and local culture.
Group size: 12 riders. Plus your cycling guide, Up Norway host and support crew.

Where we will stay
The cycling trip starts and ends with one night at Hotel Brosundet in Ålesund, a beautifully restored art nouveau warehouse that offers the perfect maritime atmosphere to begin and reflect on your journey.
From the coast, the route takes you deep into the dramatic landscape for two nights in two unique fjord bases. First, you will settle in at Valldal Fjordhotel, tucked between wild rivers and strawberry fields. A tranquil space to recharge after a day in the saddle.
Your second base is Hotel Sagafjord in Sæbø, an intimate hideaway located right at the water's edge, surrounded by the majestic Sunnmøre Alps.
Fueling the ride
Food on the road
High-performance nutrition meets Nordic gastronomy. Mornings begin with a premium breakfast where you'll also craft your own traditional Norwegian matpakke, the authentic, slow-carb fuel of local riders.
Out on the road, the team vehicle is stocked with artisanal ride bars created by our partner chefs, hydration mixes, and local specialties. Post-stage, the focus shifts to recovery, culminating in curated farm-to-table dinners and fine dining that showcases the best of the region's seasonal ingredients.
