We will help arrange for you to fly to Ørsta/Volda or Ålesund airport, and arrange transfers to Sæbø and Sagafjord Hotel in the heart of the Sunnmøre Alps.

The old farming village Sæbø has throughout the last couple of thousands years housed wolves, bears and vikings. Surrounded by a unique west Norwegian cultural landscape, deep fjords and majestic alpine mountain peaks, this is the perfect base camp for exploring the surrounding alps.

This evening will be spent with your guide and your new friends. You will be introduced to the itinerary, equipment and safety measures for the tour, before enjoying a local dinner.

Many first ascents in the Sunnmøre Alps were made by famous British mountaineers like Wiliam Cecil Slingsby and Charles Watson Patchell around in the 1900s. The two two pioneers inspired the Norwegians to appreciate the adventures our mountain landscape offers.

On your first skiing day, you will be taken through a short session of training with avalanche equipment before skiing commences. Based on weather and conditions, your guide will choose a suitable peak for the day. A good start to the weekend can be ultra-classic Skårasalen, a 1542 meter peak overlooking snow-covered pinnacles as far as the eye can see. Enjoy a final descent down to the fjord followed by a ferry trip back to the hotel where dinner awaits.

DAY 3: Grøtdalstind

The alpine landscape in the Sunnmøre Alps truly provides the perfect backdrop for unique skiing experiences. The dramatic scenery has attracted companies such as Volvo, Peak Performance, Universal Pictures, Field Productions, Solomon Freeski tv, and Warren Miller Entertainment to film their advertising campaigns here.

After the first day Skårasalen it’s time for another classic summit: Grøtdalstind at around 1300 meters above sea level is a great candidate for day 2. After-ski and dinner.

DAY 4: SLOGEN & Patchellhytta

You will make an early start from Sagafjord, take the ferry to Lekneset and drive further up the valley from charming village Urke. Today's big goal is the iconic Slogen. We will embark up through Langsæter valley, and the will the views get better the hills get steeper. The last part will be conquered by foot. In clear weather, the view from Slogen is sensational. After having taken in the powerful scenery, you will ski down to Patchellhytta, one of Norway's many huts run by the Norwegian Trekking Association. Light the fire, cook the coffee on the stove, and experience true Norwegian 'hytte'-luxury.

Wake up in the high mountains in a white playground with 1,500 m high peaks easily accessible. A cool way to end the week is to climb Store Brekketind: a classic summit where you have to cross a glacier to get all the way up to the summit. After returning to fjord leve, the skiing adventure ends. For now.

Continue your holiday in Art Noveau Town Ålesund and round off with a stay at the luxurious boutique hotel, Storfjord Hotel, or transfer back to the airport.
