DAY 1: bodø - steigen

Arrive on your very own Norwegian Paradise Island
In normal weather, the usual way to get from Bodø to Nordskot is by the regular express boat, which takes 1 hr 15 min. If the weather is stormy, your hosts will help out with alternative transportation by road (3 and a half hrs).

The voyage to Grøttøy is an experience in itself, as you travel through stunning Norwegian nature, culture and history. The island has been a trading post since as far back as the 1690s and the newly renovated Villa has nearly a century of history in its walls. Enjoy the majestic views of the Lofoten archipelago, go for a stroll on the island, or sip wine on the porch, while your three-course evening meal is being prepared.

DAY 2: Arctic harvest & eagle safari

Fresh Sea Breeze, Arctic Foraging & Dining
Your Villa Haugen hosts John Magne and Unni have quit their 'normal' jobs and put their hearts into making Villa Haugen a truly magical destination. Nevertheless, the hero of your gourmet experience is Roderic Sloan, who has spent over a decade specializing in fishing Arctic sea urchins. Learn the best ways of foraging on the beach for ocean delicacies, and play your part in turning the morning's catch into lunch.

After lunch, a sea eagle safari awaits; in fact the largest white-tailed eagle population in Europe is found along the Norwegian coast. Aperitifs will be served in the pavilion before a five-course dinner. Emphasis is placed on using fresh produce from the surrounding seas and other local products.

DAY 3: fun as well as food

The fun
Enjoy a leisurely morning and maybe a long breakfast while the hosts get ready to take you out fishing. After lunch, you can partake in filleting and packing your catch of the day to bring back home, or maybe even go for a short kayak trip around the island before departure.

Depending on the day of departure, we will help you sort out the best mode of travel back to Bodø.
